The Rajajinagar Co-op Bank was established during the year 1966 by Late Sri M.R.Nagarajan and his associates. The idea behind opening a Co-op Bank in Rajajinagar came to the mind of Sri M.R.Nagarajan, when he once happened to witness a poor man pledging his Jewels with a Pawn broker for a very high rate of interest, deeply pained with that situation Sri M.R.Nagarajan thought of opening a Co-op Bank to help Public residing in and around Rajajinagar in general and poor class in particular. He put-forth the idea of opening a co-op Bank with his associates and organised a Meeting with them along with Public and succeeded in getting the concurrence of his associates, and the public and a resolution was passed to open a Co-operative Bank in a suitable place in Rajajinagar area. The Bank was named as “ THE RAJAJINAGAR CO-OPERATIVE BANK LTD.”
Sri M.R.Nagarajan took up the issue with the then register a Co-op Societies, by framing the bye-laws and got the Bank registered by the Deputy Registrar of Co-op Societies on 28.09.1966. Later the Bank applied for license with the R.B.I and succeding in obtaining the license on 14.12.1966 and commenced the banking business. Thus the Rajajinagar Co-op Bank ltd came into existence.
